450g(1lb) lean minced Highland beef
1 Small Onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 Onion, peeled and thinly sliced
5ml (1tsp) thyme, fresh leaves if possible
15ml (1tbsp) oil, sunflower or olive
15g (1/2 oz) butter
450g (1lb) Potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
15ml (1tbsp) Gravy granules
50g (2oz) Grated cheese
1. In a large pan, dry fry the mince and the chopped onion, until
brown. Add the made up gravy from the gravy granules, and the thyme
2. In a 25cm (10") oven dish warm the oil and butter, then
layer half of the potatoes then onions then half the mince mixture.
Repeat this then cover with foil or lid and place in a moderate
oven for 30 minutes.
3. Remove the cover and sprinkle on the grated cheese, place back
in the oven till melted or finish of under the grill. Serve with
fresh seasonal vegetables.
