Highland beef cattle first arrived at Green Farm in March 2002. Dottie (Brindle) and Jaz (White) were bought as a hobby (and a bit of fun).

At this time we were milking 130 Holsteins and Jerseys three times a day, getting high yields but not making any money. So after becoming involved with the Highland Cattle Society, and making some trips to Oban to the Cattle sales, we decided to sell the milk cows in August 2005 and concentrate on cows that are fun, sell our own beef, (which we think is the best in the world), and farm in a more traditional, and environmentally friendly way.

Our Highland Beef Cattle can now be seen above the Malham Cove beauty spot where we support the Limestone Country Project.

Review from my husband

I would regard myself as a very experienced pie-eater.
To ensure the fairness and balance of my sampling, i ate the whole family steak & ale pie (to ensure i got a representative sample of the full pie)
Make no mistake...this is not your day-in day-out pie!
This is quite simply a behemoth of the pie world......a truly world class pie.
The melt in the mouth pastry, coupled with a filling of quality beef and ale....this needs no accompaniments..no gravy required.
All in all one of the best pies i have tasted and truly a pie worthy of the name - this folks is a PROPER pie

Mark Thompson buys me 3 steers at CCM Skipton.
Go and help Theresa and Holly in Wycoller get one of their calves to suckle.
Have a frustrating afternoon where we never got into gear properly but at least we didn’t lose to QPR.
One of our Simmental X cows had twin calves.
